GGGB/Rated R/Loud was Rihanna at her best and I think she’s too confused right now to find a genuine musical direction. Obviously that’s not happening! Rih seems to be desperately trying anything in hopes of making something stick and I bet, if something does, everything else that’s been released prior won’t make the tracklistng for the album. I love that! RTW may not be a top 10 hit, but it will be remembered! Lord knows I didn’t want Rihanna to run 4/5 into the ground, but I thought she’d find a way to carry the theme/feel of what this new era started out as into her next single and just make it more true to her artistry. Although it wasn’t some people’s favorite, she stood by it. That range is ridiculous! Not to bring Bey into this, but I was so glad that she didn’t abandon RTW. This time around, it’s like she dares to be different with the folk song, but 4/5 secs later goes ratchet. Her last few albums all contained music that wasn’t consistent.
I hear Rih on the one hand talking about making timeless music and being over singing some of her old songs (that burn out eventually), but nothing changes! She insists on making one long album (TTT, UNA and now this new one). It would be a shame for her to drop the ball now! This may be a snippet, but it sounds so uninspired.
This must really scare some of her stans! Rih makes a major gain by owning her masters, but then appears to be more uncertain about herself than ever.
